Weligama House is a highly popular, fully staffed luxury villa designed and built by an award winning, London based Sri Lankan Interior Designer. The villa is in Weligama on the South coast famous for it’s miles of golden beaches where surfers languidly sit on their boards and jump onto gently rolling waves. It is also perfectly located to visit the only Virgin White Tea Plantation on the island which supplies luxe department stores in Paris, have a day safari to see baby elephants being fed, indulge in a cookery class with chef and visit UNESCO World Heritage Galle Fort. Yoga classes in the shala and massages in the cabana beneath the palm trees are also at your fingertips. This villa is perfect for both beach life and culture and is very popular with European families looking for luxurious, private accommodation spent with their loved ones.

Originally captivated by the incredible landscape that is edged by a huge, golden rock face, the owner positioned the villa to nestle into its natural setting giving guests access to an oasis garden with monkeys, peacocks, Kingfisher and other endemic birds visiting every day. Palm trees, Mango and Frangipani and exotic flowers create beautiful vistas wherever you look. Designed in the colonial style reminiscent of the owner’s own Sri Lankan roots, 11 large columns front a stunning façade that includes a gorgeous veranda overlooking the pool and gardens.

Enter the large front door into an incredible and open double height reception space. Impeccably decorated with hand selected antiques and jaw dropping bespoke antique brass ceiling lights, this space is a wonderful spot to relax with a book or a drink at any time of the day.

The villa is glamorous, bright and airy with 4 double bedrooms with hand made 4 poster beds all with en-suite bathrooms. The artwork is an eclectic mix of gorgeous framed Sri Lankan costumes and reproduction vintage prints. A kitchen is available for guests within the house and a second kitchen exists in the staff house where chef creates freshly prepared meals for you using tasty ingredients away from the living areas.

The large pool sits beneath palm trees and is designed for guests who want to take on some lengths and those who just want to play, 6 large loungers are a perfect invitation to recline in the gardens and poolside. The garden cabana overlooks the pool for shady lounging, practicing yoga asanas out of the sun and sipping gin and tonics at sundown.

The house and gardens are gated and private with the beach a lazy 3 minute saunter away. Villa tuk tuks can whisk you anywhere and a train from Weligama to Galle is a favourite excursion with guests who want to get a taste of our famous Sri Lankan rail travel.

Weligama is a hugely popular bustling coastal town with an abundance of restaurants and bars nearby for guests who want to venture out of the villa. You will receive information from the owners on your booking, with recommendations of experiences and places to eat, drink, surf and take on lots of other amazing activities very close to Weligama House. The villa has recently expanded gardens and a private gate leads to a private wellness space with Yoga Shala and extensive gardens.

Staff house includes separate access to 2nd kitchen and utility room
Access is via a large gate onto a gravel drive. .
The garden is totally enclosed and a bell is used for access – the caretaker will let you in.
Villa is manned 24 hours a day.
